Dear EmiratesGBC Members and Partners,
2022 has started with renewed vigor and with sustainability at the very top of the agenda. The 2022 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which is the annual global platform for accelerating the world’s sustainable development, returned this year as a hybrid event, with some elements happening in-person while others were virtual.
Here at EmiratesGBC, we have had a very busy beginning of year. We had the chance to exhibit at the 2022 World Future Energy Summit that happened as part of ASDW, and to participate in the important discussions revolving around Energy, Water, and Climate Change—all of which are important to the future of green buildings. Additionally, EmiratesGBC co-created a panel discussion with the Royal Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS) at the World Built Environment Forum titled ‘Beyond Net Zero: Regenerative Cities’. With EmiratesGBC’s work on Net Zero through our Net Zero Center of Excellence Program and with the UAE’s 2050 Net Zero strategic initiative, we were happy to broadcast the conversation around Net Zero in the MENA region to a more global audience. Finally, we were also happy to engage our members and participate in the Swiss Water Use Platform event at EXPO2020 that allows participants to promote and discuss creative solutions for countries facing water stress.
Along with our active participation in industry events, EmiratesGBC has also been preparing for its Annual Congress, planned for mid-year. If you are interested in the opportunity to sponsor our flagship events, please reach us at events@emiratesgbc.org. To be the first to know about our events, projects, and publications release dates, then make sure you are signed up to our mailing list.
In other news, I am happy to say that our technical webinars calendar for the year is quickly being filled up. If you are interested in facilitating a webinar in 2022, please do not hesitate to email us at technicalworkshops@emiratesgbc.org. We always look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ali Al Jassim
