Together with Linxion Dubai, we are presenting a project called STARS on March 25th in Dubai at the Le Meridien Airport Conference Centre.

The project is putting a new light on mechanical splicing system as a solution for reducing the amount of steel in the reinforced concrete structure (20%+), while increasing the quality of the structure.

This is a free event is supported by CARES, Clean Energy Business Council, and IStructe.

The program was created to provided awareness and technical guidance to industry professionals on the economically viable methods that can be implemented to improve a building’s environmental performance by reducing a building’s use of energy and water and improving the indoor environmental quality. The course provides knowledge and skills to deliver improved operational efficiency and achieve financial savings.

The program is in partnership with Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and is endorsed by Etihad ESCO. The Building Retrofit Specialist certification is now also recognized by RSB Dubai as part of its ESCO accreditation scheme.

The Advanced Building Retrofit Training is endorsed by TUV Rheinland Middle East Those and participants who pass the examination conducted by PersCert TÜV will receive the ‘Building Retrofit Specialist with TÜV Rheinland Certified Qualification’, an internationally recognised certificate for building retrofit.

The EmiratesGBC WN had a busy February, starting with the Chair, Farah Yassine, speaking at the Brussels Hub Sustainable Development Forum that was co-organized by EmiratesGBC as part of a panel discussion about Women in Construction in Dubai and Brussels.

We also held our very first EmiratesGBC WN Coffee Morning of the year! This networking event allows women in green buildings to connect and share their experiences in the industry over a casual coffee and breakfast, while learning more about how the WN focuses on helping the career development of women.

Looking forward to March, we are so excited to announce the launch of the first cohort of our mentorship program this month! The program will run for 6 months and will feature 10 mentor/mentee pairs chosen from the EmiratesGBC membership.

To launch the program, we are organizing a speed-mentoring event on March 10th in GHD’s offices in Abu Dhabi to allow the mentees to engage in brief 10-minute sessions with each mentor.
