As we continue our journey towards a greener future, I wanted to share some important updates and highlights with you.

We are thrilled to announce an upcoming milestone event titled “Pathway to COP28: The Role of Sustainable Built Environment in Accelerating Climate Action.” This event, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, will serve as a crucial platform for discussions and collaborations aimed at addressing the challenges of climate change. As the host nation for COP28, the UAE is fully committed to leading by example and inspiring concrete commitments from nations worldwide. Together, we can turn the tide of climate change and pave the way for a sustainable future.

I also want to emphasize the significance of ISO certification for EmiratesGBC. We have been working tirelessly to obtain and maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. These certifications not only showcase our commitment to quality management and environmental sustainability but also bolster our credibility and ensure continuous improvement. By adhering to internationally recognized standards, we demonstrate our dedication to excellence and best practices.

Furthermore, I would like to celebrate the power and contribution of our women members, especially during the recent Women’s Network Day. The involvement and engagement of our women members are invaluable in driving positive change within our network and beyond. We appreciate the diverse perspectives and expertise they bring to the table, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that empowers and amplifies their voices. Let us continue to support and uplift one another as we strive for a more sustainable future.

EmiratesGBC Annual Congress 2023 “Pathway to COP28: The Role of Sustainable Built Environment in Accelerating Climate Action”

On the 8th of June, the EmiratesGBC will be holding its 12th Annual Congress titled: “Pathway to COP28: The Role of Sustainable Built Environment in Accelerating Climate Action”. The congress will address four different themes under the topic. Theme 1 being: COP28: Prospects and Aspirations, Theme 2: Transition to Net Zero, Theme 3: Green Finance of the built environment, and Theme 4: Innovation, Technology and Resilience. Ministry of Climate Change and Environment workshop

EmiratesGBC recently participated in the Cement and Concrete Decarbonisation Workshop hosted by MOCCAE, in collaboration with COP28 UAE and the GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association. This workshop aimed to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction sector in the UAE, and engage partners in reducing CO2 emissions from manufacturing, transportation, and construction of building materials.

EmiratesGBC as a company committed to sustainability, were honored to be a part of this workshop, which was organized in line with the Year of Sustainability and in preparation for COP28UAE. We are proud of our corporate members who also participated in this workshop, including CEMEX, Lafarge UAE&Oman – a member of Holcim Group, and Fujairah Concrete Products. Our long-standing relationship with MOCCAE enables us to contribute our expertise and knowledge towards achieving the UAE’s net-zero goals by 2050.


ASPIRE Industry Seminar on The Future of Sustainability in the UAE

EmiratesGBC participated in the The Future of Sustainability seminar as part of the esteemed ASPIRE Industry Seminar series that took place  in Abu Dhabi. This exclusive invitation-only event provided us with a unique opportunity to join industry leaders and innovators in exploring the current landscape and prospects of sustainability.

As the U.A.E. gears up to host COP28 later this year, the seminar served as a crucial platform to identify and discuss the latest developments and emerging trends in sectors deeply affected by sustainability concerns. From preserving sensitive ecological systems to advancing clean energy and water sources, the event highlighted the global momentum towards innovative sustainability solutions.


Sustainability Day event at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi

EmiratesGBC proudly took part in the event of Sustainability Day that held at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and had the privilege of delivering a compelling presentation that shed light on our council’s vision and mission. We emphasized the significance of addressing sustainable built environments and the crucial role they play in ensuring the comfort and well-being of building users.

The event was a testament to the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing, as we collectively explored innovative solutions to drive positive change in our daily lives. It served as a reminder that by working together, we can make a tangible impact in creating a more sustainable future.


UAE CLIMATE TECH : Abu Dhabi Energy Center

EmiratesGBC was thrilled to attend the UAE CLIMATE TECH event, joining the search for practical and progressive climate solutions on the road to achieving a net-zero future. This engaging and impactful event brought together experts, innovators, and organizations committed to addressing the pressing challenges of climate change.

The event provided an excellent platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with like-minded individuals and organizations. We had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, experts, and technology providers who are at the forefront of developing and implementing climate solutions.

EmiratesGBC Monthly Technical Workshop by linxion

On May 12th , EmiratesGBC Member Linxion  , delivered an insightful technical workshop on chemical products for the building industry.

The workshop was attended by members from various building sectors, the workshop delved into practical ways to reduce carbon emissions in building design, ending with engaging discussions, and networking opportunities.

The EmiratesGBC conducted its third networking event, exclusive for its members, on the 19th of May, at the EmiratesGBC office at al Joud Center.

From an engaging Climate Game by eedama to an inspiring talk by Ms. Paddy Kennedy on finding women brave voice, Her words resonated deeply, urging women to unleash their potential, embrace courage, and make their voices heard. and a dynamic speed networking session – we had it all

online webinar ” Sustainability and agriculture in outdoor school spaces” was held discussing the importance of school outdoor spaces in promoting physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and environmental awareness among students. In collaboration with the Emirates Coalition for Green Schools, EmiratesGBC hosted Arabic panel discussion moderated by Ms. Habiba Al Marashi. And had  Mr. Ali Alshrouf from Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority ADAFSA (ADAFSA), and Ms. Dalia Wagdi from WSP in the Middle East as panellists, who shared valuable insights on creating engaging outdoor classroom experiences.

Driving Towards a Greener Future: Dubai's Roadmap to Emission-Free Public Transport by 2050

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled the groundbreaking "Zero-Emissions Public Transportation in Dubai 2050" strategy, establishing itself as the first agency in the Middle East to adopt a comprehensive long-term plan towards achieving "Net-Zero Emission Public Transport" by 2050. This forward-thinking strategy aligns with the UAE's preparations for COP28 and the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative. It represents a significant milestone in RTA's ongoing endeavors to enhance sustainability in roads and transportation, with the ultimate goal of attaining global leadership in sustainable mobility. The strategy aims to enhance the adaptability of public transport infrastructure and its positive impact on climate change, effectively translating commitments into tangible accomplishments. As part of this initiative, the deployment of clean energy vehicles will be progressively increased. Dubai's RTA plans to incorporate electric and hydrogen vehicles into its existing fleet, encompassing public transportation buses, school transport, taxis, and limousines. Additionally, efforts will be made to revamp infrastructure, extend the utilization of clean energy to include buildings and facilities, and promote waste recycling in support of the circular economy. Through these transformative measures, Dubai is charting a path towards a more sustainable future, ensuring that public transportation plays a pivotal role in minimizing emissions and fostering environmental stewardship.
