A Letter from EGBC Family

Dear EGBC Members and Industry Supporters,

I hope that everyone has had an enjoyable summer and is refreshed and ready for a busy and important twelve months ahead.  With high levels of economic growth returning to the UAE, fuelled largely by a buoyant real estate and tourism sector, it is important now more than ever that we as a nation remain focused on maximizing the sustainability of the built environment and build on the great strides made in the green building movement over the past decade.  The EGBC along with its Members and Partners in the private and public sector have a significant role to play over the coming years and I am confident that together we can rise to this challenge and leave behind a sustainable legacy for future generations.

The summer months have given EmiratesGBC ample time to plan and progress with activities for the remainder of the year, with our landmark event being the 3rd Annual EGBC Congress on 20-21 October in Dubai.  The Annual EGBC Congress is under the Patronage of the Minister of Public Works and will see local government and international keynote speakers discussing “Sustainable Cities for the Future.”  EGBC is also once again organizing a number of community awareness activities to coincide with World Green Building Week, taking place from 21st September to 25th September 2014.  As part of the weeklong activities under the theme “Get Up Green Up”, EmiratesGBC has partnered with Canon to host a Photography Competition for university students in the U.A.E. and we are very excited to receive some fresh and innovative entries for the competition.

EmiratesGBC greatly appreciates and relies on the active involvement of its members & partners to bring success to our events and activities.  We are looking for volunteers and sponsors for the Annual EGBC Congress to help continue the success we saw during past two years. For more details, kindly visit the Congress Website or contact EGBC office at info@emiratesgbc.org.  Registration is now open on the website.  I look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,
Saeed Al Abbar
Chairman
