EmiratesGBC supports UAE properties in reducing their carbon footprint by improving water & energy performances, waste management, education and awareness since June 2013
with its Benchmarking and Reporting Exercise and a holistic set of Training modules, the Program offers a comprehensive and relevant source of information to various hotel-related stakeholders, spanning across all levels of technical understanding and roles within the UAE hospitality industry

How to green the Hospitality Sector?
Greening a property needs to take into account two main components:
- The property’s design and physical performances; and
- The hotel’s daily operations
What can be done?
Invite all hospitality professionals to consider the following:
- Engage Hoteliers on green initiatives and related financial, technical and operational benefits
- Help identify areas of actions and apply corrective/proactive measures
- Raise awareness towards staff and end-users (i.e. hotel guests)
Position Emirates Green Building Council as a key stakeholder and support provider:
- Conduct workshops covering key areas of actions
- Develop green benchmarking data and analytical reports for the U.A.E. hotels
- Be recognized as a knowledge platform for green technologies, design practices and operations
- Cooperate with U.A.E. Authorities on eco-tourism and green buildings
- Promote the Green Key Program
Hotel Benchmarking
Participating hotels participating in the Energy and Water Benchmarking Project were asked to provide monthly data which was normalized and analyzed against other participating properties. Results were used to build an annual analytical report based on statistical observations and mathematical analysis.
Hospitality Workshops
The experts of Emirates Green Building Council have developed modules covering the key operations of a property that can benefit from implementing sustainability- related initiatives.

Availability and Facilitation
The modules are developed in a format that can be tailored to assist any level of hotel staff, addressing general facts on green hospitality for those less informed, while also covering more technical aspects that can support the engineering department. The level of customization will therefore change upon request and actual needs of each group.
The workshops can be facilitated in the EmiratesGBC office in Dubai or directly in the hotel premises.
Costs associated to the workshops’ planning and conduction are shared upon request and based on duration, level of technical details, and agreed venue.
