What is World Green Building Week?

Organised by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and now in its 18th year, World Green Building Week is the world’s largest campaign dedicated to the sustainable built environment. Led by our global network of Green Building Councils and partners, the campaign demonstrates how green buildings, cities and infrastructure can accelerate climate action, resilience and wellbeing.

Throughout the week of 7–11 September 2026, WorldGBC and the global Green Building Council (GBC) network will be hosting events and sharing ideas on how businesses can be ready for anything if you #BuildItReady.

Design for Practice: A Student Design Challenge

As part of World Green Building Week 2026, themed #BuildItReady, EmiratesGBC, in partnership with the American University in Dubai (AUD), will bring together architecture students and built environment professionals for an interactive, hands-on design challenge focused on sustainability and green building. The event will give students the opportunity to explore real-world industry challenges, collaborate in teams to develop design solutions, and engage directly with architects, consultants, and other professionals. Participants will present their ideas to a panel of industry experts and receive constructive feedback, creating a practical and learning-focused experience that connects academic knowledge with the realities of sustainable design in the built environment.
