Winners of 1st EmiratesGBC Annual Awards to share insights on sustainability at Networking Event on Feb. 26

Award-winning projects highlight excellence in sustainability initiatives that serve

as a model for industry stakeholders

 

Dubai, UAE; February 24, 2014: Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC), an independent forum aimed at conserving the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices, will showcase the winning initiatives by the first EGBC Award winners at its monthly networking event to be held on February 26, 2014, from 9am to 11.30am at Dusit Thani, Dubai.

 

Models of the award-winning projects will be highlighted at the event, which aims to inspire industry stakeholders on undertaking path-breaking initiatives to support the ‘green economy for sustainable development’ vision announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

 

Saeed Alabbar, Acting Chairman of EmiratesGBC, said: “The inaugural EGBC Awards leveraged the impressive achievements of key players in the region who are taking a leadership role in driving sustainability in the built environment. By showcasing their accomplishments at the networking event, we aim to facilitate knowledge exchange and interaction with industry stakeholders. The sharing of best practices in sustainability at the event will further contribute to promoting sustainable practices in the construction and building operation sector.”

 

The inaugural EGBC Award winners, who will showcase their innovative experiences, at the event sponsored by SGL Group, are: Emirates Energy Star Project by Pacific Control Systems LLC (for Best Carbon Saving/Reduction Programme of the Year); CEMEX and Royal City Contracting LLC for Hawk Freight Services (Green Building System Award); SGL Group for ECOPHIT Radiant Ceiling (Green Building Material/Product Award); MAPEI (Green Building Research Award) and Unibeton Ready Mix (Best Training Initiative of the Year).
