A Letter from EGBC Family

Dear EGBC Members and Industry Supporters,

The month of June saw the 2nd Annual EGBC Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner which recognized and celebrated the achievements of some outstanding organizations who are making their mark in the field of sustainability. I would like to extend my Congratulations to all the winners and entrants who are playing an important role in championing green buildings in the region.

With the first half of the year now behind us, we look back at the numerous
activities, projects and workshops EmiratesGBC has held and we are pleased to have been able to provide such an important platform for industry experts to discuss and deliver sustainable results. Our partnerships with government and academia have also continued to grow with a number of key MOUs signed this year. Looking forward, I am delighted to share with you that preparations have already begun for the 3rd Annual EGBC Congress which will take place on the 20th and 21st October under the theme “Sustainable Cities for the Future”. Should you be interested to support the event through sponsorship or participation, kindly contact the office at info@emiratesgbc.org or 04-3468244.

Lastly, as we welcome the holy month of Ramadan, I wish all our Members and Partners a Ramadan Kareem.

Sincerely,
Saeed Al Abbar
Chairman

Congratulations to all the winners of EGBC Awards 2014

Following the success of the 1st Annual EGBC Awards last year, the 2014 Awards were presented in a completely new form. This year the Annual EGBC Awards and Annual EGBC Congress are hosted as two separate events, allowing the Emirates Green Building Council to reach out to a larger regional audience. The 2014 EGBC Awards Program honoured companies that demonstrated clear implementation of sustainable design, construction and/or operation of buildings and structures thereby celebrating the outstanding achievements of the industry leaders who are making positive impacts on sustainable development in the UAE and in the region. Congratulations to all the winners who were recognized and awarded with crystals at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony held on 11 June in Dubai:

  • Green Building of the Year – The Change Initiative
  • Green Facility Management of the Year – Emaar Community Management
  • Green Building Material/Product Award – Johnson Controls Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Inc
  • Green Building System Award – Royal City Contracting
  • Training Initiative of the Year – The Change Initiative
  • Green Building Research Award – The British University in Dubai
  • Dr Owainati Award for Students — Omair Awadh

The high quality of the EGBC Awards is largely due to the hard work and time dedicated by each of the judges. A big thanks to them for their dedication to a fair judging process, which was observed by KPMG, the 2014 Annual EGBC Award’s Official Auditor.

The event would not have been possible without the contribution of the sponsors, so a special thanks to all of them for their support: Al Abbar Group, Caparol, Emrill Services, Jotun Paints and Leviton.

Lastly, a sincere thank you to all the Awards applicants and to the attendees of the Awards Ceremony. We look forward to your continued participation and cooperation in the future endeavours of EGBC. Should you be interested to view the photographs and download the Awards Brief, kindly visit the EGBC Awards website.
