Emirates Green Building Council networking event highlights energy-efficient lighting solutions

SEPTEMBER 25, 2012| press release

Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC), an independent forum aimed at conserving the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices, hosted a networking event to highlight the importance of energy-efficient lighting solutions in promoting sustainable built environments.

Representatives from the entire construction industry supply chain attended the event held at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, to discuss in detail the practical applications of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), an advanced lighting technology. The event was sponsored by ETAP.

Standardisation organisations that set up LED performance criteria initiated the discussion, led by ETAP representative Wim Sliepenbeek.  He provided insights on unrealistic claims in the LED market today, which set the platform for an interactive dialogue.

The event concluded with a tour to the auditorium of the first LEED-certified existing building in the Arab world in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce headquarters that was renovated with 90 percent more energy-efficient lighting.
