Emirates Green Building Council invites technical papers on sustainability for presentation at Annual Congress

Dubai, UAE; September 28, 2013: Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC), an independent forum aimed at conserving the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices, has invited technical papers from industry professionals and doctorate-level students on the topic ‘Sustainable Competitive Advantage: An Economic Revolution’ for presentation at the second EGBC Congress to be held in December 2013, in Dubai.

The paper must cover the best methods of adaptation in building a sustainable competitive advantage for businesses by addressing six new competency areas: collaborative growth and efficiency, zero waste, renewable resource, climate resilience, eco-performance measurement and cradle-to-cradle philosophies. It must be presented in English, with a total word count of not more than 2,500. The last date for submissions is October 20, 2013, and entries are to be sent to: events@emiratesgbc.org.

Adnan Sharafi, Chairman of EmiratesGBC and Board Member of the World Green Building Council, said: “The EGBC Congress is our flagship event that brings together the entire spectrum of stakeholders to discuss and formulate action strategies to further promote sustainable built environments. By inviting technical papers, we are providing the industry professionals and doctorate-level students the opportunity to present their views before a distinguished gathering of experts. This underlines our commitment to encourage new thinking and ideas relating to sustainability.”

Submissions must include a title that conveys the essence of the proposed work, an abstract in not more than 150 words, a general problem statement, focused questions that enabled research, background, significance of the problem further explained, detailed discussions and results, in addition to reference and bibliography. The entries will be evaluated by a panel of experts from EmiratesGBC based on originality of approach, quality and clarity of presentation, significance and relevance of the topic, and appropriate conclusions. Selected papers will be presented at the EGBC Congress.
