November also marks an important milestone for the Council with the launch of the “State of our Schools Roundtable Discussion” taking place on November 19th, with the aim of producing the first of a series of white papers under the Global Coalition for Green Schools initiative. As a founding member of the Global Coalition, The Emirates Coalition for Green Schools aims to bring together the UAE’s strongest advocates of green schools, to create a national vision of healthy, high-performance schools that are safe and sustainable learning environments for our future generation.
Last month exemplified EmiratesGBC’s steadfast strides toward supporting the UAE to be a global leader in sustainable urban development by launching the UAE’s first ‘Nearly Zero Energy Buildings’ Report. Not to be forgotten, the month of September also marks World Green Building Week taking place from 25 September to 1 October 2017. Organised by the WorldGBC and led by Green Building Councils, the week is an annual event created to empower the green building community. This year’s theme is #OurHeroIsZero …
Last month, EmiratesGBC was proud to launch the Building Retrofit Training (BRT) Programme, in partnership with Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Masdar of Abu Dhabi.
The BRT Programme is a first and only one of its kind initiative in the region that focuses on strengthening awareness and the skillsets of building industry stakeholders to enhance the energy efficiency of their existing and new projects.

Last month saw the launch of the EmiratesGBC Green Building Tooltips, a rich online resource which is a first and only one of its kind initiative in the region that provides valuable guidance and insights for building users and the industry to implement sustainability best practices. Supported by BASF and Legrand, this is another fantastic initiative from the Council to raise green building awareness in the region.
